Greenwood Lake – Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc., and the Village of Greenwood Lake are participating in a pilot program designed to test the feasibility of installing energy-efficient Light-Emitting Diode (LED) street lights into the O&R system.
LED streetlights are designed to promote potential energy dollar savings, energy conservation and carbon footprint reduction. The LED fixtures also are designed to focus their light downward so less light shines into the night-time sky.
“We welcome the opportunity to help test cutting-edge technology as it applies to the village’s operations,” Greenwood Lake Mayor Barbara Moore said in the utility’s press release announcing the program. “This is just one of the many steps we have taken in Greenwood Lake to save money and improve the environment through energy efficient practices.” Read more in the Greenwood Lake Villager>>
